Huizhou brush, named after its origin in Huizhou (now Huangshan City), is also known as "Wang Bolibei." In 2014, the "Huizhou brush-making technique" declared by Tunxi District of Huangshan City was included in the fourth batch of the national intangible cultural heritage list. Huizhou brush, along with Huimo (Huizhou ink), Sheyan (She inkstone), and Chengxintang paper, are collectively referred to as the "Huizhou Four Treasures of the Study."
Huizhou brush is renowned for its four virtues: sharpness, evenness, roundness, and robustness. It has a high ink capacity, easy opening and closing, excellent control over ink flow, and is suitable for both calligraphy and painting. It can fully reflect the effects of ink in terms of sharpness, concentration, heaviness, lightness, and clarity.
