Xuan paper

Xuan paper, a specialty of Jing County in Xuancheng City, Anhui Province, is a unique handmade craft in China. It is known for its soft and resilient texture, smooth and jade-like appearance, resistance to moth and decay, and the ability to showcase various ink effects. It is hailed as the "thousand-year longevity paper" and is revered as a "national treasure." When calligraphy or painting is done on Xuan paper, the ink lines are clear, the layers are distinct, and the artwork exudes both strength and elegance, displaying a remarkable presence. The strokes and paintings seem to come to life on the paper, vibrant and lively. In August 2002, Xuan paper was successfully granted the status of a nationally protected geographical indication product.
